The mission of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is tripartite, as is the mission of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The department strives to maintain excellence in the areas of research, teaching and service to the Faculty, University, and Community. The department extends its cooperation to all other departments of the Faculty as well as other collaborative studies with other institutions.
Pharmacology: is the exciting branch of biological and medical sciences that embraces our knowledge of the mechanism of action of drugs and other biologically active agents on living cells and organisms.
Toxicology: the study of the adverse effects of chemical, physical, or biological agents on living organisms and the ecosystem.
Pharmacology and Toxicology have similar basic principles and often utilize similar experimental methods and approaches to address a wide range of biomedical and health-related questions.
