Aim of the Course

The course is designed so the student can predict the biological response, possible side effects, and metabolism routes from the chemical structure of various classes of drugs affecting various receptors, enzymes and other target systems as well as the structural modification of a compound to alter its physicochemical properties which may affect its biological response or influence its formulation or route of administration.

  • Drugs acting on the cardiovascular diseases
  • Antihypertensive drugs, Antianginal drugs,
  • Antiarrythmic drugs, Cardiotonics,
  • Antihyperlipidemic agents, Hemostatics,
  • Anticoagulants and platelet aggregation inhibitors, Thrombolytics
  • Adrenergic drugs
  • Diuretics
  • Drugs acting on to central nervous system CNS stimulants: Analeptics, central sympathomimetics, Xanthenes, antidepressants
  • Drugs acting on to central nervous system CNS deperessants: General anesthetics, sedatives and hypnotics, Antiepileptics, Anxiolytics antipsychotics
  • Thyroid and Anti-thyroid Drugs
  • Analysis of certain pharmaceutical preparations, using titrimetric, potentiometric & spectriphotometric methods in addition to purity tests.
