Establishment of the unit:

The microanalytical unit was established in November 2012. It consists of three laboratories; the NMR lab., the IR lab. and the molecular modeling lab.

Vision:

Providing students and researchers from various specialties on the national and regional level with high standard and unique microanalytical tools. Participating in the field of drug discovery through the latest molecular modeling software as well as specialized workshops.

Mission:

Helping researchers in the field of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Medicinal plants with chemical structure characterization of organic compounds either synthetic or from natural sources through NMR and IR spectrometric analyses. In addition, performing molecular modeling experiments in the field of drug design and discovery. Training postgraduate students on the latest applications of molecular modeling in the field of drug discovery.

Objectives:

  • Provide researchers with qualitative analyses for structural elucidation of synthetic and natural compounds.
  • Perform NMR analysis including 1D and 2D techniques for 1H and 13C for synthetic and natural compounds, the results are submitted to the client by email (PDF or FID) or as a hard copy (printed) as required by the client.
  • Perform IR analysis for synthetic and natural compounds.
  • Perform a variety of molecular modeling experiments in silico to simulate drug behavior and interactions within the biological system.
  • Perform workshops to train postgraduate students on the most important applications of molecular modeling software.
